About Me

I am originally from Virginia Beach and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in psychology (go Hoos!). Before coming to Round Hill, I was the assistant principal at James Madison Middle School for several years. I came to education through Teach for America, teaching special education in a high-needs charter school in Washington, DC while obtaining my M.Ed. in special education through George Mason University. I have also taught at a rural middle school in Greene County, Virginia, and at William Fleming here in Roanoke. I earned my degree in Administration and Supervision through U.Va. Other than education, I love hiking, UVA sports (especially basketball), traveling, and spending time with my family.

Welcome to Round Hill Elementary. It is a pleasure to come back to Roanoke City Public Schools and serve as one of the Assistant Principals at Round Hill. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Arts degree from Hollins University. I received my endorsement in Administration and Supervision in 2016 and am excited to explore the avenues of administration at Round Hill after 12 years of teaching and coaching which includes 2 years in Alternative Education, 3 years at James Breckinridge Middle School in Roanoke City, and 7 years at Read Mountain Middle School in Botetourt County. Prior to teaching, I spent 10 years in the military as a proud member of the United States Navy. I am committed to achieving excellence in the classroom and making sure the school provides a safe and secure learning environment.

I am so excited to be joining Round Hill as your new assistant principal. This will be my 13th year in education. I received my undergraduate degree from Radford University in Interdisciplinary Studies and immediately began teaching at Goodview Elementary in Bedford County. In 2017, I received my graduate degree from Virginia Tech in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and decided to make the switch to Roanoke City Public Schools. The past two years I have served as a classroom teacher and most recently the instructional coach at Hurt Park Elementary. I love working in Roanoke City, and I am so grateful to be working at such an amazing school. Go Rockets!
