Meet the Administrators

Dr. Cory Hawks

Welcome to Round Hill Elementary School!  My name is Cory Hawks and I feel privileged to be the principal here.  Our history of academic excellence relies on Round Hill’s caring faculty and staff members that are committed to meeting the needs of the children that enter our doors. Recognizing that the elementary years are a crucial time of intellectual, emotional, and social development, our mission is to challenge students to achieve academically and to help them develop the social skills and habits of character that will promote current and future well being. Working together, we look forward to many more years of success for our students.

Before coming to Roanoke City, I taught special education for seven years and coached high school basketball, baseball, and football.  My undergraduate degree is in Business Administration.  I have also obtained my Masters in Special Education, Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Educational Leadership, Educational Specialist, and Doctor of Education.

The staff at Round Hill Elementary is committed to making each day the best it can possibly be for every child.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Welcome to a new year at Round Hill Elementary School! It is an honor and privilege to serve as Assistant Principal. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1987 from Roanoke College and joined the Roanoke City Public Schools teaching staff in 1989. After teaching several years and raising my two sons, I went back to school and earned a Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership in Administration and Supervision from Radford University in 2012. I am also endorsed in teaching English to Students of Other Languages (ESOL).  I am committed to supporting a safe and effective learning environment. It is going to be a great year watching our students soar!
