Guidance News

It is hard to believe that it is time for our fifth grade students to be completing the Middle School registration forms.  All rising sixth grade students (unless enrolled in the Honors Program) take a basic curriculum of classes which includes English, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE/Health.  The students then have the opportunity to select classes for their electives.  Students not achieving a pass ration on the SOL tests will receive extra remediation in lieu of electives.

Honors program applications are being sent home with report cards.  Please complete and return if you wish to be considered for the program.

Attendance counts! Parents please make sure your child is in school every day and on time (unless of course there is an illness or family emergency).  Learning cannot take place if our students are not in their place and on time.  Those students with perfect attendance and having 2 or fewer tardies from February 1-March 31 will have an opportunity to silly string Dr. Hawks!

Congratulations to those students who accepted the attendance challenge!  One hundred fifty-five students had the chance to silly string Dr. Hawks.  Way to go!

April is the Month of the Military Child.  Virginia has over 70, 000 military children!  Please show your support for these children by wearing purple on Friday, April 21.  Purple Up!

Have a safe Spring Break!
